Selected topics of the research

Landscape painter Ziesenis, 19th. century

Romantic mountain landscape

In 2021, a big landscape painting has been discovered signed with 'F. Ziesenis', 'C F. Ziesenis' or 'C J: Ziesenis' in 1863.

The painting depicts characteristic elements like a village with a small church, a castle on a rock and a hut on the hillside across. In the center, a rough river coming from the mountainous background of the scene rushes underneath a bridge.

H. Ziesenis - animal painter

A painting of two horses on a paddock is known that shows the signature 'Ziesenis 65' (top right). This was said to have been made by a painter named Heinrich Zieseniß in North Germany in 1965 and from then on was in private family possession.

For the biography of the artist, there are no further clues. The Zi-fec Archive is therefore grateful for references to the life and works of the artist.

W. Zieseniss - optician in Hamburg

From the optician W. Zieseniss "Rathhausstraße 16 in Hamburg" occasionally wall barometers with carved wooden frames as well as pearl-coated opera glasses and binoculars are offered. In the broadest sense of the term art, these objects as well as the history of the company are of interest to Zi-fec Archive.
