Selected items of the collection

colonial women
This miniature portrait by an unknown artist titled Colonial Women was purchased from the United States. It bears the signature ‘n. Ziesenis’ lower left. The red curtain and the pillar in the background characterize the portrayed lady as princess. The portrait is set by a neat, erectable frame and should have been a family memento.
Countess Maria
This miniature painting of countess Marie Barbara Eleonore of Schaumburg-Lippe after a painting by Johann Georg Ziesenis (1716-1776) is signed lower right with 'Ziesenis'. It is certainly not from the hands of J.G. Ziesenis, but could have been made by his daughter Maria Elisabeth Ziesenis (1744-1796).
Elisabeth Auguste
In 1760, the engraver Johann Georg Wille made portraits depicting Carl Theodor Elector Palatine and his wife Elisabeth Auguste after paintings by J.G. Ziesenis. These portraits have been printed in various versions, of which this colored specimen in a decorative frame and execution is a rarity.
